Introduction Dialogue
Farmer Ted's Daughter, Meera approaches your party, skipping along the path between the fields. Her water bucket is nearly empty because she has slopped most of it along the ground. She hums a merry tune to herself.
Meera:
- Oh, hello. I didn't see you there at first. Are you here to see my father? He's gone to town, so you'll have to come back later.
- Unless... you're not up for an adventure, are you? We should go and find the old Seeress because I've heard she can tell you about your future. I want to know who my true love will be, so I can go out there and find him. And, you know, finding out about the crops and stuff might be useful too.
- I can't quite remember where she lives, but I'm sure if we look around we'll find her eventually!
Find the old Seeress 3 times so Meera can get her fortune told.
Intermittent Dialogue
Find the Seeress 3 times
Meera approaches the Seeress's table. Around the room are dead birds hanging by their feet, strange ornaments made of Trolls' teeth and a small shelf lined with different-colored crystal balls.
The Seeress makes Meera kneel but stays standing herself. She spins in a circle, moving faster and faster until she is a swirling bundle of greyed robes. When she stops, she collapses onto her rear end.
Something in her crystal ball is still moving in a constant spiral. It looks like sparkly fall clouds.
Seeress:
- I see... great misfortune in your future. Your father is traveling to Ivory City at this very moment to sign a marriage contract for you with the Mayor's Idiot Son.
Meera:
- No! Father would never do that! He's just going to town to sell turnips!
Seeress:
- It is true, my child. If you take no action, you could be married to someone who is not your true love.
Meera:
- What can I do?
Seeress:
- You must stop your father from reaching the Ivory City. Block his path, and he will be open to your negotiation. I have foreseen it.
Collect 20 Ratchet Weeds to stop Farmer Ted's wagon.
Bring 20 Ratchet Weeds to the Mangled Forest
After Meera places the Ratchet Weeds in the road, she hides to watch and make sure that her father doesn't get hurt.
The trap works like a charm-- the Ratchet Weeds clamp onto Tedss cart wheels and stop him in the middle of the road. As Farmer Ted heads out into the road to investigate, however, Meera realizes that she is not the only one who has been watching.
Meera:
- Oh no, Goblins! They must have been following him since he entered the forest! Look, they're carrying him off! Daddy! Daddy wait! We're coming to get you!
Goblin Goon:
- You never get him back now, girlie! We take mean farmer man to Big Boss Gob, then you out of luck. No more do goblins have to sneaky sneak for farm mans carrots! Hee hee hee heeee!
Find the Goblin Captain 3 times in the Forest Hideout and negotiate for Farmer Ted's release
Capture the Goblin Captain from the Forest Hideout 3 times
The Goblin Captain frowns at you. Despite the fact that he wears fancy clothes, his hygiene is terrifyingly bad. Sweat stains adorn his once-fine (but probably looted) trousers.
Goblin Captain:
- I see that you've come for that scrawny farmer... Well I won't let him go so easily. Not this time. I've been too lenient about this whole food hoarding business. My people go hungry but this bigot will not sell to us simply because we are Gobs! He thinks we are all cruel and stupid!
- I've been waiting for a time when he could be... removed. And now that I have him...I'm very sorry, but you'll be lucky to get yourselves out alive, much less him.
Meera:
- Please, just consider letting him go. He's not that valuable in the long run. I'll do anything...
Goblin Captain:
- Hmm hmm hmm... anything, you say? Well, there is one thing I may trade for Ted's life. Fetch me five crowns from the Bandit Kings. Only then will my hold on the forest be official. Then I may let you go. Or I may eat you. It depends how I feel after lunch.
Collect 5 Bandit King Crowns from the Forest Hideout to barter for Farmer Ted.
- You have handed over 3 Goblin Captain Character Cards
Completion Dialogue
Collect 5 Bandit King Crowns from the Forest Hideout
The Goblin Captain lifts one of the crowns onto his head. He looks down with a satisfied smile on his frog-like face.
Goblin Captain:
- As it turns out, I'm in a good mood. This crown is even more spectacular in person. Go, and take this wretched farmer with you! Just remember: I won't be so forgiving if he happens to fall into my hands again!
Meera:
- Daddy! You're okay!
Farmer Ted:
- Thank goodness those goblins let me go. I thought they'd eat me like they eat all my carrots! Now I can get back to the city to marry you- I mean... sell turnips... ummm...
Meera:
- Were you really going to marry me off to that dolt from Ivory City?
Farmer Ted:
- How did you...! No, no I guess I wasn?t. Not after all this mess. You saved my life my dear. You can marry whoever you want to.
Meera:
- Oh I knew you'd see reason! The Seeress was right!
- And I couldn't have done it without your help, brave adventurer! I hope you don't mind if I tag along for a little while longer. I'll even give you these cards I found in the ditch over there!
- You have received 45 Basic Cards.
- You have received 5 Heroic Cards.
- You have handed over 5 Bandit Crowns.
