Power Types
From MythMonger Wiki
Power Type is the elemental aspect of an attack during a turn.
There are five basic Power Types: Earth, Fire, Metal, Water and Wood.
Each character card has a power type which is taken into consideration when calculating turn power. Each of the 5 power types has an advantage against 2 other power types and a disadvantage against the 2 remaining power types.
Some cards at the beginning of the game do not have power types. These cards are training cards to help the new players understand the game before adding the complexity of power types and faction alignments into play.
Rebels are taught about the Power Type concept during the 'A Lesson in Power Types' beginner's quest.
Here's a quick summary of the Power Types:
- Earth: Strong versus Fire and Water / Weak versus Metal and Wood.
- Fire: Strong versus Metal and Wood / Weak versus Earth and Water.
- Metal: Strong versus Earth and Wood / Weak versus Fire and Water.
- Water: Strong versus Fire and Metal / Weak versus Earth and Wood.
- Wood: Strong versus Earth and Water / Weak versus Fire and Metal.
In battle, the superior element receives 15% power bonus while the opposing element receives a 15% penalty, both applied on the power of the cards after any activated attack or defense traits.
In reality, given that multiple supporting traits can be activated, the situation can become very complex. For more detailed analysis, please refer to the Advanced Strategy's power type guide.
As a twist to the game, powerful cards with no power type ("None" power type) reappear later in the gameplay, such as the Dream Snatcher. The player has no elemental advantage over these cards, unless he or she can activate card traits that specifically attack the "None" power type.
